Rückblende

The „Rückblende“ is the German prize for political photography and caricature. It is unique in Germany as a joint competition for political photography and caricature. The Rückblende is organized by the Rhineland-Palatinate State Representation and the Federal Association of Digital Publishers and Newspaper Publishers in cooperation with the Federal Press Conference.

From a pool of submissions, usually over 1,000 photos – in the photography category alone – a jury selects around 100 photos for the exhibition.

The following photos were featured in the respective annual exhibitions:

The Queen’s hat arrives: State visit of Queen Elizabeth II and Prince Philip, arrival at Berlin-Tegel Airport

German Chancellor Angela Merkel welcomes British Prime Minister Boris Johnson to Berlin with military honors

Anstehender Machtwechsel in Berlin: Franziska Giffey mit Michael Müller – Wahlkampfkundgebung mit Olaf Scholz in Berlin, Bebelplatz

Special Moments

There are three special moments, I would like to highlight here:

My first real press photo assignment: the CMA presentation marking the start of „Grüne Woche“ (Green Week) 2006 in Berlin, January 9, 2006.

The first Berlin airport closure I covered: Berlin-Tempelhof (THF) on October 31, 2008 – the result of a flawed political decision. My saddest appointment

The second Berlin airport closure I covered : Berlin-Tegel (TXL) on November 8, 2020. The final flight. This, too, was a political decision made for the benefit of the new Airport BER.

FOOD

A first, tentative attempt at food photography.

It’s asparagus season. A bunch of asparagus

CALENDAR

My travel photography resulted in calendars of Dubai, Edinburgh, Glasgow, Liverpool, Manchester, and London.
All rather unique and unusual. Available in bookstores, online, or directly from https://www.calvendo.de/galerie/autor/holger-much/
You can also view all the calendar pages there.

The calendars are now available for 2027.
